Creative Dreams

What do Paul McCartney, Robert Louis Stevenson, Stephanie Meyer and Albert Einstein have in common?

Answer: Their dreams provided them with some of their best known work.

Sir Paul was reported to have dreamt the tune to one of his well known hits ‘Yesterday’ and Einstein’s theory of relativity is said to have come to him in a dream.  Stephanie Meyer dreamt the story of the Twilight Saga.  She talks about this on her website.

People can draw their dreams as well as write them down. More and more people are starting to use their dreams as inspiration for paintings and beginning to exhibit them – a wonderful way to express yourself in so many ways. Not only is the dreamer creating a piece of artwork inspired by the message they’re being given but providing their individual interpretation of it laid out on canvas.

Salvador Dali was believed to have used other people’s dreams to inspire his paintings, one of which was from Freud’s book The Interpretation of Dreams.

Top Tip

We have used the phrase ‘Sleep on it’ for years, because going to bed with a problem on your mind can provide the solution in the night.  The next time you have something on your mind, write the question to which you want the answer in your dream diary before you go to bed, and see what your dreams offer you that night.
